Terms of use

A short agreement for a small tool. It says what you may do with Inkfold, what we promise, and what we cannot promise — without three pages of capital letters.

Effective 14 August 2026 Version 1.0 hello@inkfold-ext.com

1. The agreement

By installing or using the Inkfold browser extension, or this website, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not install Inkfold, or remove it from chrome://extensions — that is the whole of the exit procedure. In these terms, "Inkfold", "we" and "us" mean the independent project that publishes the extension at inkfold-ext.com; "you" means the person using it.

In plain terms

Use Inkfold freely for your own reading. Do not resell it or pass it off as yours. It is provided as it is, and it changes how pages look — nothing more.

2. Your licence

We grant you a personal, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive and revocable licence to install and use Inkfold on browsers you control, for as long as these terms are observed. You may use it at home, at work, and on as many of your own machines as you like. We keep all rights in the extension, its source, its name and its marks, including the folded-leaf logo.

3. What you may not do

  • Sell, rent, sublicense or bundle Inkfold as part of a paid product without our written agreement.
  • Repackage or republish it under another name, or upload a copy to an extension store as your own work.
  • Remove or obscure attribution, or use the Inkfold name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse or supply something we do not.
  • Use Inkfold to interfere with a website's operation, to defeat a paywall or access control, or to break any law that applies to you.
  • Attempt to introduce malicious code into the extension, or distribute a modified build that keeps the Inkfold name.

4. Other people's pages

Inkfold alters the presentation of web pages inside your own browser, for your own eyes. It does not modify anyone's server, content or files, and the change is not visible to anyone else. Even so, the sites you visit remain theirs: their content stays subject to their copyright and their own terms of use, and using Inkfold does not grant you rights to their material.

Because a fold recolours a page, a site may occasionally look different from how its designers intended — a chart's colour key, a colour-matching tool or a photograph shown against a coloured ground can read differently. Where colour carries meaning, switch Inkfold off for that domain and view the page as published.

5. Price

Inkfold is free. There is no subscription, no trial that quietly expires, no advertising and nothing to buy inside it. If a paid edition ever exists, it will be a separate, clearly labelled product and the version described here will remain free.

6. No warranty

Inkfold is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that every page on the web will fold correctly, that the extension will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will remain compatible with future versions of Chrome. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost data or lost goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use Inkfold. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Inkfold — which is nothing — or ten US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

8. Ending it

You may end this agreement at any moment by uninstalling Inkfold; no notice is needed and nothing is owed. We may end it if you breach these terms, or if we discontinue the extension. On ending, your licence stops, and sections 6, 7 and 9 survive. We may also stop distributing or updating Inkfold at any time — if that ever happens, the copy already installed in your browser will keep working until Chrome itself changes underneath it.

9. Changes and law

We may revise these terms; the current version always lives at inkfold-ext.com/terms with its effective date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the extension's release notes. If you continue to use Inkfold after a change takes effect, you accept the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the laws applicable at our place of establishment, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and you may also have rights under the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, which these terms do not remove. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
